What is Clearing House?

Clearing House is a consignment store for fine home furnishings, antiques, and collectibles. We display and sell quality items on your behalf. Discerning shoppers browse for special pieces at Clearing House.

What Items Do You Take?

We specialize in attractive furniture, china, silver, crystal, glassware, lamps, antiques, fine jewelry, paintings, small rugs, and similar quality items that will sell for at least $20. Ensure your items are clean and polished or there will be a charge for this service. We cannot accept items that are broken, chipped, stained, or dirty. We are happy to accept your items for consignment at any time during our business hours unless they are large pieces.

What Items Won’t You Accept?

Please click here for the type of items we do not accept. Don’t take it personally if we are unable to accept certain items. Sometimes they are not popular with our customers, do not fit our specialty, or we’re just overstocked on that type of piece.

Who Sets the Price?

Price is important: too high and the article won’t sell, too low and it’s not fair to the consignor. We use any information the consignor has, such as original cost, age and history of the item, plus our experience and knowledge of the marketplace to set prices.

What Will It Cost Me to Sell My Items Through Clearing House?

There is no registration fee. The consignor receives 60% of the actual selling price of any item which sells for $40 or higher, and 50% of the actual selling price of items which sell for less than $40. If an article does not sell in the first 30 days, the price is reduced by 15%. This mark-down process is repeated at the end of 60 days and again after 90 days. If any of your articles do not sell within 90 days and you want them back, you should pick them up within the next month. After 120 days Clearing House will donate or dispose of unsold items with no further notice or payment to the consignor. Amounts due consignors that are $20.00 or greater are available on the 10th day of each month following the sale of items. Consignors may pick up their checks or leave us self-addressed stamped envelopes.

What About Large Pieces?

We suggest that you first bring in or email pictures of large pieces so we can discuss pricing and determine if we have space. Please bring enough help to move your pieces into the store. We are happy to furnish names of reputable local movers.

Can I Drop Off My Items?

Yes. There is no need to make an appointment; come by to drop off smaller items whenever we are open. When we consign your articles, we will donate items we cannot accept unless you advise us that you want them back. Please wrap and box small items. We consign small items on a first come, first serve basis.
